Are you annoyed that the New York Times continually gives an annoying popup to upgrade your subscription even though… you’re already subscribed? If you use uBlock Origin (and you should…) you can add this to your custom filters to remove those entirely:
www.nytimes.com##.css-1kml3kd[class*="expanded"]This was last updated September 4th 2025. I’ll try and keep it updated because every time I go to a new computer and I don’t have it I get (mildly) infuriated.
Kudos to the nytimes for being my only paid site where an adblocker is still required to remove annoyances! Usually they want to keep you paying! Although I guess they also still force you to call to cancel (even though you can sign up online…), which thankfully in some places is illegal but not in Canada.
The New York times deploys nagware to harass users into using their mobile app. This pops up at least every minute as I browse through their site. Do you have a solve for this on Firefox mobile(Android). Thanks!
Argh… that sounds annoying! I don’t have an Android available to try unfortunately… and it doesn’t seem to happen in Developer Mode in Firefox on desktop.
If you’re using uBlock origin on Android… you might be able to try blocking the individual element and then making a rule for it. But that might be more annoying than the pop up.
